01Who it is for

Sustainability, packaging development and brand teams.

02The problem

Choosing materials and redesigns that meet public targets and new rules without breaking cost, supply or pack performance.

03What we cover, and what you receive

What we cover

  1. Material alternatives for a pack or range
  2. Desk-based recyclability review against published design-for-recycling guidance
  3. Reuse and refill options
  4. Benchmarks of peers' public commitments
  5. Redesign opportunities and priorities

What you receive

  1. Options matrix: material, recyclability evidence, regulatory fit and indicative cost direction
  2. Peer benchmark of public packaging commitments
  3. Prioritised redesign roadmap

04Method

Options are mapped against published recyclability guidelines and the rules in the SPI Regulation Tracker; peer commitments come from the SPI Packaging Buyers Database and company reports.

  1. 01

    Scope

A scoping call and a written brief: the decision to support, geographies, materials and formats, and time horizon.

  2. 02

    Source plan

The public, licensed and client-supplied sources we will use. Every external fact keeps its original source, date and scope.

  3. 03

    Evidence

Desk research and SPI datasets such as the Regulation Tracker and Buyers Database, plus interviews only when scoped and agreed.

  4. 04

    Analysis

Sourced data is kept visibly separate from SPI estimates and interpretation, and every assumption is listed.

  5. 05

    Check

A second member of the SPI team checks numbers and sources before delivery. Corrections are logged.

  6. 06

    Deliver

A report or deck, a data annex and a read-out call, with one round of clarifications included.

05Limitations

  • A recyclability review is a desk review, not a laboratory test or certification.
  • We do not certify life-cycle assessments. Where you need lab testing or a certified LCA, we say so and can point you to a qualified provider.
  • Estimates are not guarantees; scenario results depend on the assumptions stated with them.
  • We do not invent contacts, purchase volumes, supplier relationships or packaging specifications. Gaps are reported as gaps.
  • Coverage is limited to the sources named in the source plan.

We do not give legal advice or legal representation, carry out certified or laboratory testing, issue certifications or audit opinions, or file with regulators on your behalf. Where you need one of these, we say so in the proposal and can point you to a qualified provider.

Questions people bring
  1. Q1

Which material should replace our current pack?

We compare the realistic alternatives on recyclability evidence, regulatory fit and cost direction, and say where the evidence is thin.

  2. Q2

How do our targets compare with our peers'?

We benchmark the public packaging commitments and reported progress of the companies you name, each with its source.
