Pack performance research measures how a physical package performs with real shoppers: whether it is found on shelf, understood at a glance, preferred over alternatives, and worth paying more for. It tests structure, graphics, finish, opening and disposal on actual packs rather than on concepts or descriptions.
The distinction matters commercially. Concept testing tells you whether people like an idea. Pack performance testing tells you whether a specific structure, at a specific facing width, printed on a specific substrate, wins a purchase in the three seconds a shopper gives the category.
Every study we run is built backwards from a decision that has money attached: a redesign, a substrate switch, a lightweighting programme, a claim going on front of pack, or a format entering a new channel.
Each programme answers a different question, and they are designed to be combined. Most packaging decisions need at least two of them before a business case holds up in front of a board.

Shopper research observes what they do at the point of selection, where attention lasts a few seconds and the pack is the only sales tool present. It measures findability, shelf standout and switching behaviour under realistic time and choice pressure.
